Translator of the Week – Week 2

First of all, I’d like to apologise for the lapse in ‘Translator of the Week.’ Its not that we haven’t been happy with our translators, in fact they have all been brilliant in helping us to provide an excellent service during this particularly busy time. But one translator in particular has really shone this week, and that translator is….. *drumroll*

Silvia Fornós!

Here’s what she has to say about her translation work:

“With over 5 years in the translation industry, I am glad to offer my services from English, French and German into European Spanish and Catalan.

Different experiences for several years in Spain (born and educated), the UK (current location since January 2009), Germany (2 years) and France (4 years) have provided me with an efficient knowledge of each language, culture and all necessary skills to become a professional translator.

I completed a Master in Technical Translations Tools (2007) which followed my Bachelor’s Degree in English and German at Barcelona University (1996-2000). Additionally, I attended a Subtitling Course (February 2009) to deeply improve my competences in this domain, even though I had already fixed some subtitles and I am currently a regular subtitle specialist.

Occasionally, it has been an honour to me to assist in huge trade showrooms in Paris, London and Düsseldorf as interpreter, and to act as Training Team Leader during store openings of an important and fast growing irish company.

Finally, I have collaborated as videogames translator and QA (Spanish localisation team) with the well-known Blizzard Entertainment headquartered in Irvine CA, and the Production Department of Square Enix (London) as Spanish videogames tester. I currently cooperate with different clients and agencies in a wide range of domains such as:

* Video Games Localisation including testing and QA;
* Subtitling;
* Fashion: in-store language/training support and translation of HR or other internal and/or external material;
* Website localisation;
* Marketing;
* Tourism & Travel;
* International Organisations and others.

I am proud of being part of Lingua Translations and I hope our collaboration lasts a long time!”

From all of us at Lingua Translations, thank you Silvia for all your hard work!
