What is Interpreting?

Do you know the difference between interpreting and translation?

Interpreting – translate orally the words of a person speaking a different language. Oxford English Dictionary

At Lingua Translations our definition of interpreting stretches beyond a simple oral translation. We ensure that an accurate and immediate meaning is conveyed.

Interpreting is a highly specialised skill, and therefore only the most proficient interpreters in the industry are employed by Lingua Translations. Our interpreters are degree qualified with at least five years’ professional interpreting experience and are fluent in both the language they are interpreting from and the language they are transmitting to you. They also possess the knowledge required to be able to speak with both authority and accuracy in their specialist fields. As our interpreters are often asked to deal with sensitive information, confidentiality is a priority.

Different types of Interpreting Services we work with:

Simultaneous interpreting – as it happens, usually through a headset
Consecutive interpreting – each party pauses while what they have said is interpreted
Chuchotage or ‘whispered’ interpreting – as it happens but without a headset
Telephone interpreting – instant 24/7 365, over the telephone/mobile

LINGUA TRANSLATIONS PROVIDE EXPERT, FULLY REGISTERED AND CERTIFIED INTERPRETERS

Where needed we can also supply interpreters with full CRB clearance, sworn interpreters or those that are registered with the National Register of Public Service Interpreting or Association of Police and Court Interpreters. We can also supply British Sign Language interpreters and Palantypists on request, as well as full interpreting equipment.
Don’t think that we only employ interpreters living in the UK either. We work with interpreters around the globe, so no matter where you are in the world your voice can always be heard.

No matter what your interpreting needs, Lingua Translations strive to provide the best service from start to finish. We will assign you an experienced project manager who will be your single point of contact and who will take care of all your interpreting requirements. Your project manager will find the best linguist for the job and make sure that all of your interpreting needs are taken care of.
