Sourcing a Catalan translation

It is likely that you do not speak Catalan yourself, and it is also probable that you have never dealt with Catalan translation services before. Therefore, it is vital that take the time to source a professional translation company to handle your Catalan translation project, and one which can reassure you from the very first point of contact that your job is in safe hands.

At Lingua Translations we put you at ease immediately, ensuring that you can trust us entirely, just as we put our trust and faith in our expert Catalan translators to provide you with a high quality translation.

We only work with in-country Catalan translators, i.e. professional translators who live within Andorra, France, Italy or Spain, and we ensure that Catalan is their mother tongue. All of our Catalan linguists have at least five years’ professional experience, whilst they specialise in specific areas, meaning we can handpick an expert Catalan translator based purely upon their knowledge and expertise in the area that your project falls into.

Lingua Translations can translate any manner of text from or into Catalan, regardless of format, how large or small it is, or how urgently you require the completed Catalan translation. Contact us today for a Catalan translation quotation or a Catalan interpreting quotation.

Catalan translation – a language overview:

Catalan is a Romance language, the national and official language of Andorra, and a co-official language in the Spanish autonomous communities of Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Valencian Community, where it is known as Valenciàn.

The Catalan language developed from Vulgar Latin on both sides of the eastern part of the Pyrenees mountains. In 1861, Manuel Milà i Fontanals proposed a division of Catalan into two major dialect blocks: Eastern Catalan and Western Catalan.

The different Catalan dialects show deep differences in lexicon, grammar, morphology and pronunciation due to historical isolation. There is a roughly continuous set of dialects covering the various regional forms of Catalan/Valencian, with no break at the border between Catalonia and the Valencian Community, and the various forms of Catalan and Valencian are mutually intelligible even between the most eastern and western varieties.

The grammar of Catalan mostly follows the general pattern of Western Romance languages.
