LinguaTranslations 200x138Business Translation Services: Into the world of Digital Publishing

How can digital publishing, along with business translation services, help companies? I have recently started a module called Digital Publishing at university to find out! I do confess I had a very blurry idea of what digital publishing (or DTP) was, but after a few lectures I am becoming more and more enthusiastic about what I have discovered so far. So, here is a brief taster of DTP, I hope you enjoy it!

First of all, DTP refers to all those tools aimed at providing effective communication. This is because communication does not only involve software and laptops, but also creativity, skill, and of course a lot of hard work! DTP can be used in a variety of applications. So far, in my course we have concentrated on thinking of DTP in terms of logos, newsletters and brochures, but there is a wide range of ways you can employ it. In the case of business translation services, DTP involves inserting the translation into the existing artwork, providing the client with a print-ready version of the translation, which is always well-received!

For example, if you need a translation of a brochure from English into German, you are very likely to need some DTP. This is because English sentences are usually shorter than German ones, so when you substitute the content, the layout might look rather clumsy and unpleasant. DTP experts (or even translators with a very good knowledge of DTP) will find a way to readjust the appearance of the brochure and make your business stand out abroad! Business translation services are only one area where DTP can make the client even happier. The publishing industry is another common sector where this service is regularly required for the commercial translation of literary works.

Of course there are programmes which can help. They allow users to create documents according to their needs. Settings therefore change if the final product is to be printed or published online. In addition, there are several other factors to take into account when creating something like a newsletter. Lines, space, colours, textures and so on are only a few of the key factors that help (or hinder) communication, so you will definitely need some expertise there!

Do you know how many different languages Ed Sheeran has sung in?

It’s no secret that Ed Sheeran wrote his latest album while traveling the world and soaking up different cultures and styles of music. But he went further than that. He also isn’t afraid to delve into the world of languages either. What’s most impressive is his commitment to getting the foreign lyrics and their pronunciation …
