So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye…

Today is a sad day for me, as it marks my last as Operations Manager for Lingua Translations. I started at the company in November 2010, after graduating from Swansea University’s BA in Translation. I have enjoyed every minute since. Meeting the founders of the company at university seems like such as long time ago now! I was incredibly excited when they invited me to Lingua Translations for an internship.

My initial role here was as part of a telephony project but as my role in the company grew I took on more and more Project Management. Then promoted to Senior Project Manager and then to Operations Manager. After two and a half years, I have worked in every area of the business. Except Finance (thankfully!) I prefer words to numbers! I’ve done things I never thought I would, including meeting with Manchester United in one of the corporate boxes at Old Trafford. Even attending posh award ceremonies. If you’ve seen the Awards page on the website you’ll know that there were a lot of them!

It fills me with pride and happiness to pass the baton to my colleague Estrella. Who is one of the best Project Managers and hardest workers I have ever met. She is a mine of information and has been a lovely colleague since we started at Lingua Translations two and a half years ago. I have no doubt in my mind that she will do a great job and lead the team to even greater success in future. So, a massive congratulations to Estrella on a well-deserved promotion!

Thank you!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sharon and Terry at Lingua Translations. For their faith in me and for giving me the chance to prove myself in ways that many companies don’t allow. Even though I am relocating, I will take Lingua Translations with me. I will always be grateful for the wonderful years I spent here and the brilliant people I got to work with.

Do you know how many different languages Ed Sheeran has sung in?

It’s no secret that Ed Sheeran wrote his latest album while traveling the world and soaking up different cultures and styles of music. But he went further than that. He also isn’t afraid to delve into the world of languages either. What’s most impressive is his commitment to getting the foreign lyrics and their pronunciation …
