Factors Used by Translation Services in Determining Costs

You have made the decision to utilize a translation services firm and now you are wondering about the cost. All firms will use almost the same factors in arriving at a cost of providing the service to you. You should get a quote for your service before it is performed. Many of the firms want partial payment upfront with the balance paid when the product is delivered. The factors used in determining your costs include the following items.

One of the most important factors (if not the most important) is the number of source words. The source language is the language of the original document and the target language is the language into which the original document is being translated. It is not very surprising that the number of words is a major factor in determining the cost. It is only common sense that a larger document will cost more than a smaller document.

Another aspect in calculating the cost is the challenging nature of the translation. The more complex a document is the more it will cost per word. This again should not come as a surprise. An extremely challenging document will cause the translator to do research and call on his or her specialized knowledge. The complexity of the translation will also cause the translator to use much more creative writing skills. Any document with no technical terms will be priced lower than any document with technical terms like a technical manual or complex legal contract. A personal letter will be priced at the lowest price and the more complex, technical text will be priced higher.

Tips For Quickly Editing Your Essay

If essay writing is your passion then one thing which bothers you is to make it readable. Once you sit to write you keep on writing to maintain the flow. But once you are finished you want to check whether it is presentable or not. Editing an essay is a mammoth task. If it’s written by you then it’s still easy but if you have to edit an essay written by someone else then the task is little tough. There are many online editing sites. These sites either check your essay for efficiency or give you tips for editing them.

What are the main points to look for while editing an essay?

* Grammar, writing style, format and organization are some basic things you should check for while editing a piece of writing.

*Look for a natural flow throughout the written piece. If you find that the flow of the writing is missing or is very abrupt then it requires to be edited.

*Look for questions in the entire piece of writing. If you can put in lot of questions in the essay it will be very interesting to read. So if you find one which has less of questions, and written in a basic tone you can insert questions to make it interesting.

*Look for originality in the written piece. It should not be a copy of some previous work. Plagiarism is an offensive act. Check the piece of writing for plagiarism also.

The Art of Good Orators

The Art of Teaching
I’ve been contemplating the art of teaching. I myself have taught various movement arts, including yoga, fitness and dance for over 24 years. I am also a student of these disciplines. I’ve attended countless seminars, workshops, retreats and schools in my disciplines of choice. I’ve read books, magazines, traditional texts, and online snippets in an effort to deepen my knowledge and refine my teaching skills. I’ve noticed that some teachers, authors and dancers resonate strongly and drive their point home with efficiently and authenticity. Others seem to fall flat.

Spotting a Good Teacher:
You can recognize gifted teachers immediately. For one, they seem to choose their words carefully. Their sentences spring forth like arrows that land squarely in the heart of each student. It’s apparent when you have been with a good teacher because you feel inexplicably changed in some way. Good teachers have a strange way of following you home. Even after you finish the book, place the CD in its case or pass through the exit doors of the seminar they stay in your head and continue to teach. As you practice your art, their words often stream back into your consciousness and help you to refine your understanding of the art form and unravel layers of meaning.

Self publishing is the New Black

Writer’s scour around for the perfect ending to their story and sometimes beat around the bush because they are in dire need of a bottom line. The truth is writers are just waiting for the best solution to their finished project – which is of course, to publish what they have slaved over for years.

Writing a book is the easiest part of the process and getting them published may impugn one’s patience and bank account. When authors give up hopes of ever being picked by a traditional publisher, they turn to self-publishing.

Authors who have made it big in the industry have chosen to self-publish at some point in their careers: Rudyard Kipling, Ernest Hemmingway, Margaret Atwood, Stephen King, Carl Sandburg, and James Redfield just to name a few, and one can see how they all fared in the industry.

If a writer is looking for self-publishing companies to publish a book, there are a few companies that practically hold court to everything a book needs from book cover design customization, layout consultation, copyediting and even marketing. This brings the writer then to the process of going through production and seeing the actual product in book form already.

Primarily, as the writer, you would need to assess your book’s publishing plan. Ask yourself if you need editing, marketing, book cover layout consultation, interior design customization and all that jazz. After mapping out your book’s requirement, find a self-publishing company that will cater to all of your needs. Xlibris is one self-publishing company who practically has everything an author requires. The company has been in business for over a decade and they already to know what they are doing. They have programs that have all the inclusions that will turn your manuscript into a book.

Taking Back Our Schools – Student Style

A civilized student revolution is the place to start.

As the quality of our public schools and Universities plunge, the academic morons chant endlessly the three big lies; that the problem is the government doesn’t provide enough money, classes are too large and, of course, the really big problem is the parents! They say if lazy parents would just teach their unruly children a little respect and discipline they would behave in school – riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Most of you will probably agree that you can get away with a lot more at school than you can at home. If the blame can be laid at the feet of the parents it is only because they have allowed the schools to usurp their parental responsibility. Mychal Massie agreed that parents need to step up and take a larger role in managing their children’s education when he said, “Not every public school is bad, and not every private school is good. I agree that, thanks to Jimmy Carter’s creation of the Department of Education, we now have commissioned centers of agitprop, i.e., government schools that have taught state-sponsored liberalism and misinformation for nearly four decades. I still argue that this only takes place because parents have abdicated their responsibility for the education of their children.” Amen.
